On December 22nd, at the release conference of the "China HVAC Industry 2030 Carbon Reduction
Roadmap" themed "Carbon Exploration · Green New Ecology", Li Jiang, the chairman of the China
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association, pointed out that as a major consumer of building
energy, the HVAC industry will achieve a carbon reduction target of 316 million tons by 2030.
When it comes to air conditioners, most people will think of the two aspects of cooling and heating.
But for the air conditioning systems in buildings, this is far from enough. In addition to heating and cooling,
standards such as technological leadership, product stability, and energy efficiency of the solution are
all indicators for measuring its professional quality. Nowadays, a new measurement criterion, "carbon
reduction volume", has been added.
In an interview with a journalist, Li Jiang said that whether it is the "double reduction" standard or
the formulation of air conditioning standards, the focus should be on one point: China's manufacturing
industry must have its own standards and internationalize the right to set standards. This work must be
done. From the mask orders we placed with foreign countries at the beginning of the pandemic last year
to the Xinjiang cotton incident, our high-quality products have been constrained by foreign standards.
It is evident that the formulation of a good standard is closely related to the development of an industry.
When the products of leading enterprises in an industry reach the forefront both nationally and globally,
they should simultaneously leverage their own advantages and work closely with industry associations to
formulate industry standards that are ahead of the national and even global standards. Only in this way
can our manufacturing industry and all walks of life remain invincible in future international competition
and lead the way.
Three feasible paths to lock onto the digital goal of "carbon reduction"
Data shows that carbon emissions from building operations have accounted for 22% of the total
carbon emissions of the entire society, while the energy consumption of HVAC systems accounts for
approximately 50% of the total energy consumption of buildings and about 15% of the total energy
consumption of society. As various policies for the "dual carbon" goals are gradually advanced, the state
has introduced a series of preferential policies to further strengthen the supervision and management of
energy consumption in public buildings. It is now imperative to significantly reduce the energy consumption
of HVAC systems. However, at present, there are thousands of manufacturers engaged in the HVAC industry
in China, serving millions of customers every year. How can the visualization, traceability and analysis of
carbon emission management be achieved in a short period of time? The answer is unified goal management.
At the conference site, the China Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association, the China
Electronic Energy Conservation Association and the China Energy Conservation Association jointly
witnessed the three carbon reduction paths proposed by Haier Central Air Conditioning, namely
intelligent manufacturing, low-carbon products and recycling.
Li Jiang believes that to achieve the major strategic goal of carbon peaking, the HVAC industry must have
clear quantified targets. Only in this way can it promote the construction of a three-level information
sharing system among experts, brands and users, and build an intelligent decision-making system that is
crisscrossed, data-reliable, goal-achievable and controllable in the industrial chain, so as to promote the
transformation and development of the HVAC industry towards green and low-carbon.
The organic integration of industry, academia, research and application
The "China HVAC Industry 2030 Carbon Reduction Roadmap" released this time is the result of a
"strong alliance" between China's top institutions and leading brand Haier. It is understood that this
roadmap integrates four types of resources, namely technology, standards, data and talents, to help HVAC
achieve its carbon reduction goals. Among them, the HVAC Green and Low-Carbon Standards Formulation
Committee will regularly organize seminars on HVAC green and low-carbon standards. Meanwhile, the
HVAC energy consumption analysis big data will integrate the existing energy consumption data resources
of HVAC systems in the industry, promote the sharing of energy consumption data resources of HVAC
systems, and provide data support for research related to the "dual carbon" goals of HVAC.
Meanwhile, as a leading domestic brand, Haier independently developed the central air conditioning
energy efficiency management and control system - "Intelligent Control Cloud System", which combines
high-efficiency magnetic levitation technology with smart cloud technology. It integrates air conditioning
operation and management experience, is equipped with an advanced BS architecture hardware system,
high-precision sensors, and energy management software. We provide customers with comprehensive
energy-saving services including optimized operation and energy-saving control of the cold and heat
source systems of air conditioning refrigeration stations and air conditioning terminals, energy analysis,
energy diagnosis, remote operation and maintenance, solution design and project implementation, to
improve the operational efficiency of air conditioning systems.
Once upon a time, carbon peaking was merely a fantasy of industry professionals. Now, top institutions,
industry associations and leading enterprises have taken the lead in launching joint actions. Through
three major measures in the layout of the manufacturing end, technology end and application end, the
2030 carbon reduction roadmap for China's HVAC industry, led by Haier Central Air Conditioning, indicates
that as an enterprise, Haier no longer only focuses on the standards of air conditioners and other products
themselves, but has initiated a transformation of energy solutions within the industry.
